Aquaculture Development Bills

The Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment published the Draft Aquaculture Development Bill 2023 for public comment on 17 November 2023.
The Aquaculture Development Bill B 22-2018 was introduced to Parliament on 22 June 2018. Its main object was to promote responsible aquaculture development in South Africa. One of its other objects is to promote the development and management of an aquaculture sector that is ecologically, socially and economically sustainable. Chapter 8 of the Bill is entitled “Maintaining Environmental Integrity”.
